Today she was struggling to make herself a costume out of construction paper. Now you have to understand this sweet girl takes after her momma's heart is about anything creative and artistic...though she takes it even farther than me. She is a GREAT story teller...this childs imagination blows my mind. Anywho....back to the costume. After watching her get all sorts of frustrated with her "costume" ripping and tearing, I decided I would make her one that would not. I found and old jersey nightie of mine that was a big torn and tattered ( I am a proud upcycler) and a leotard she had in her drawer...and got straight to work. She loves to be a hero as well as a pretty princess, so that was my goal...make her a super hero costume that was uber girlie! Needless to say ...she LOVED it!
We headed outside so her imagination could take her away and of course I was not about to let this chance get away from me or my camera...it was something that had to be preserved. It ended up being something so magical for both of us. I even put my camera down frequently to get lost in her world. She dubbed herself "Super Snap"...not sure where the name came from, but I surely went with it..I was Super Momma Snap by the way.
Super Snap is a true hero, saving children from run away cabooses, baby birds stuck in trees, children's pets, she is a dragon slayer saving the world from all the bad...she was everything a super hero should be. Kind, gracious, caring and loving. She ended up getting tired and a bit chilly, though she was disappointed because she felt she hadn't "saved" enough and she needed to save more to become "official" I convinced her that it was OK for Super Hero's to take a break. They need to eat and rest so they can once again try to conquer the world of all the bad.
I will never forget these precious moments her and I had, lost in the world of her imagination. I think I actually would just like to stay there forever with her.
Here are a few of the images I did get. I had to limit myself as there was SO many magic moments caught.
Enjoy...and always remember...the imagination of a child is a blessing, a gift and something to be thoroughly enjoyed! If you are ever in need of a hero...just look into the eyes of a child.
God Bless ~
